What the AI Interview Copilot does
HiFive AI v1.0 introduces the AI Interview Copilot - a real-time assistant that sits alongside every interview and helps interviewers conduct more consistent, structured, and fair evaluations. The Copilot generates role-specific interview questions based on the job description and candidate profile, suggests follow-up questions based on candidate responses, takes structured notes automatically, and produces a candidate scorecard aligned with your evaluation rubric.
The Copilot is not autonomous. It does not make hiring decisions or replace the interviewer's judgment. It is an assistant that reduces the cognitive load of interviewing, ensures consistency across interviewers, and eliminates the post-interview note-taking bottleneck that delays hiring decisions by 2–3 days on average.
Technical architecture and privacy
The Copilot processes interview audio in real-time using on-device speech recognition with optional cloud-based NLP for complex queries. Audio is processed in a segmented pipeline - speech-to-text runs locally, and only the text transcript (not the raw audio) is sent to our cloud models for question generation and scoring. This architecture ensures that raw audio data never leaves the interviewer's device.
All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Interview transcripts are stored in your HiFive AI tenant and are never used to train our models. Compliance with the DPDP Act 2023 is built in: candidates are notified that AI assistance is used, and they can request a human-only review of any evaluation.
Early results from beta customers
During our 3-month beta with 28 companies, the Copilot reduced average interview preparation time by 65% and post-interview scoring time by 78%. Interviewer consistency - measured as the standard deviation of scores for the same candidate across different interviewers - improved by 42%.
